2026 Western Backflow/Cross-Connection Course
The objective of the course is to REVIEW the principles of cross-connection control and backflow prevention, including applicable laws and regulations, the types of backflow prevention assemblies, and the proper procedures for testing and maintaining them. This curriculum is designed to assist the individual in preparation for the North Carolina Cross-Connection/Backflow Operator exam.

Course Schedule
All course classes will be held at Emergency Medical Services, Station 1 in Morganton. Final class schedules will be provided one week before the school. NC One Water does not provide breakfast or dinner on any school days. Breaks will be scheduled between instructors throughout each day.

Optional Printed Binder (Click to expand)
All students receive a web link with school presentations in PDF format one week before the school and a USB drive of the presentations on-site. Students may print materials themselves if desired.
NC One Water can provide a printed binder of class presentations in advance for $150 per binder. Binders are not required for registration. Select the "Optional Presentation Binder Add-On" on the registration page when completing enrollment.

Our review courses do not work directly out of this textbook, and it is not required to attend. It is provided to each student at the school and is recommended as a fundamental training resource before the review course and before sitting for the state exam.

Attendance Policy:
| Students are expected to attend 100% of the classes. | |
| Emergency work absences may be allowed with supervisor's permission. Contact NC One Water staff in the registration area or headquarters room to report an absence. Absences must not total more than 20% of the course contact hours. | |
| Students who miss 20% or more of classes will not receive a Certificate of Completion. | |
| No refunds will be provided to students who fail to meet the attendance requirements. |

Refunds & Substitutions (Click to expand)

Refunds using the original payment method are available if NC One Water is notified prior to the refund deadline. All refunds will be issued minus a $50 administrative fee. Refunds for event registrations may not be processed until the conclusion of the event. Where applicable, registrants may apply the payment as a credit toward another event or substitute a registrant if the request is made before the refund deadline.
If the cancellation is received after the deadline, no refund will be issued, but a substitute registrant may be requested. We accept substitutions up to the start time of the event.
